In celebrating Wesak Day – What realy is Buddhism ??? by Teacher Chin Kung

April 29, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As all Buddhists geared up to celebrate the Wesak Day on the 1st of May , Tuesday which happens to be the universal Workers Day , lets pause fro a moment to see what our current great teacher Master Chin Kung at http://www.amtb-usa.org/ had to say about Buddhism !!!

Buddhism is a most profound and wholesome educational path taught by Shakyamuni Buddha to all people.
In his forty-nine years of teaching, Shakyamuni Buddha explains the true nature of life and the universe
. “Life” refers to ourselves, and “universe” refers the environment in which we live.
Those who understand these truths are called Buddhas or Bodhisattvas. Those who do not understand are called worldly people.
Cultivation is the process of changing the way we think, speak, and act towards people and towards the universe from an erroneous way to a proper way.
The guidelines for cultivation are awareness, right understanding, and purity. Awareness is the opposite of delusion. Right understanding is the opposite of deviation.
Purity is the opposite of pollution. These three qualities can be achieved by practicing the Three Learnings of self-discipline, concentration, and wisdom.
The Three Basic Conditions are the foundation of cultivation and study. When interacting with people, follow the Six Harmonies, and when dealing with society, practice the Six Principles. Follow the Vows of Universal Worthy Bodhisattva and focus your mind on attaining rebirth in the Pure Land. This completes the purpose of the Buddha’s Teachings.

Fo Guang Shan Malaysia Delegation visited MAM, Melaka

April 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday , our Museum were indeed honoured to receive a delegation of Buddhist from the Fo Guang Shan M’sia headed by Her Excellency Rev. Jue Cheng – Abbess ( FGS M’sia ), Principal ( DongZen Institude of Buddhist Studies ), CEO ( Fo Guang Publication ) www.fgs.org.my .

Within a short span of time , Her Excellency shared many noble values that could really change my future life …………….Amongst the most memorable were a leaflet titled One Hundred Tasks for Life by Venerable Master Hsing Yun which i began reading soon after they ‘ve left……..this hundred tasks might sound simple , but nobody said it was easy to accomplish.

I was first introduced to Fo Guang Shan Malaysia situated at Jenjarom, Selangor when our family visited my sister Janet Ng SH , who was married to her husband whose family owns a hardware shop and resides in Jenjarom. Incidentaly Rev. Jue Cheng and my sister enjoy a good friendships towards the development of Buddhism at Fo Guang Shan , Jenjarom. How strange !

I must say it was the most magnificent Buddhist Organisation ( Temple ) i have ever seen and our family members spent an eventful evening within the aforesaid compound .

I was told by Her Excellency the main objective to Melaka was to locate a new centre for Fo Guang Shan ’s followers in Melaka region. Amidst discussions , Her Excellency also took special interest in getting to know the various exhibits within MAM and mind you Her Excellency was a pro in history, cultural heritage and other related matters of interest as well.

Malacca Intra City Panorama Bus Services

April 24, 2007 · 2 Comments

Congratulations to the Melaka States Goverment for having introduced the abovementioned bus services. It only cost RM 2 per day to hop up and down of the aforesaid bus services with the same ticket !!!!! It should had been introduced a long long time ago….

First and foremost , i personally being stationed at MAM , beside the Youth Museum and Post Office adjacent to the Clock Tower; can certainly hear and received numerous remarks , not to mentioned complains and grouses about our transportation infrastructures.

It was not that we had not done enough but rather the exploitations by certain unscrupulous quarters like taxi /cab operators……….. imagine RM 15 from Clock Tower to Sentral Bus Station and RM 10 to Mahkota Parade, Medical Centre, Equatorial Hotel and Century Mahkota Hotel !!!! Nowonder no locals took cab !!!

Secondly, our exclusively produced Trishaws charged a minimum of RM 40 per hour ride / bookings ( Sometimes in US Dollars ) to see those various tourist destinations ; with half of the time being spent awaiting by roadsides while those visitors walk like hell or climb the St. Paul’s hill like HELL !

It is my fervent hope that with the introduction of the abovemtioned RM 2 bus services, it will put a stop to those blood suckers that were detrimental towards Melaka’s Tourism.

However , the States Goverment enforcements should step up with random raids to ensure cabbies use meters and Trishaws peddlers abide by the rules; for a noble start.

This morning Mr Yeo of Muar cameby and together with Jason Yoong we’d shared the various ways to further promote Melaka; if not Malaysia.

As Jason is setting up a blog on Money Museum , Mr Yeo contributed by letting me published his various bank notes collections for the general viewing of bloggers around the globe; another way of promoting Melaka’s 600 yrs of Cultural Heritage Melting Pot.

Afternoon ,Mr Ahmad Sofian Azli b Abd Aziz , of Manana Resorts & Dive
http://www.mymanana.tripod.com/ , Tioman Island , a tropical sanctuary situated at South China Sea , off the coast of Mersing, Pahang came by our Museum.

He spent almost 3 hours enjoying the various exhibits ranging from old coins, postcards, magazines, etc.

He also encouraged me to publish those down memory lane magazines and comics so that his friends world wide can have a closer view……….
