KY eats – Traditional Wantan Noodle and such at Chong Loy, Sunway

Undoubted many of you agree that Penang offers the best hawker food in this country, the best char kueh teow, curry mee, prawn mee, and of course, laksa, can be found on the island. However, there are more than just these few offerings when it comes to Chinese hawker food, and there are certainly dishes that tastes better outside the favorite hawker food destination that is Penang.

Restaurant Chong Loy, wan tan mee
traditional set up with lots of combination of ingredients

When it comes to wantan noodle and various roasted/bbq meat items, some of the bests can be found right here in Klang Valley. One of my favorite places to have a cheap and good traditional wantan noodle would be Restaurant Choy Loy at PJS 10, situated just opposite Sunway Pyramid.

The first time I visited this place was actually in the previous decade when I used to stay at around the area. It was nice to see that the shop is still running and selling basically the same thing after I came back from the States.

Restaurant Chong Loy, beef and char siu mee
roast pork & bbq pork, beef & innards, chicken feet & mushroom, roasted duck

The selling point at Chong Loy is the variety of traditional noodle and rice you can get. They have the classic wan tan mee with char siu (bbq pork), then there’s siu yoke (roasted pork), lap cheong (Chinese pork sausage), roasted duck, chicken, chicken feet with mushroom, and even beef including tripes. You can pick any combination to go with noodle in dry and soup version, or rice.

Restaurant Chong Loy, roast pork mee
look at the dude enjoying!

I have tried pretty much everything from this place over the years. While it might not carry the wow factor like siu yoke at Pudu or char siu at Aman Suria, everything do tastes pretty good and proper, just like how they should be. I particularly like the chicken feet with mushroom and the wan tan noodle with beef.

to my little get-together @ Baroque, Heritage Row KL.

I had the whole lounge upstairs all for myself and the guests. Baroque has different guest DJs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And it’s not very crowded. Perfect for a chill out night. ) Oh did i mention that Baroque has a very handsome manager. Fat la but very handsome hahahah (hor, Sim! Kenko Diet Plum not working for you meh?)

Ok. Photos!

Ching and I taking attendance.

Some Diva came late!

Weelim and Mayzhee. Your pretty face duly PSed. Now it’s prettiererer.

Guests getting to know each others! Kenny intro himself to G and Sara.

Ehehehe. Saje.

Some people very happy with the doorgift!

Kate, Jane, Stef and Ren.

Some obviously not.

Haha Nicholas.

Okay we had a very special guest that day. Her name is Cheddie.

Obviously she was the star of the night. Even Ringo Starr also not so starry.

Very cute Rachel and very cute Cheddie.

Very cute Stef with very very cute Cheddie.

Very cute cute? i actually think cute is the word cute Kenny and very very very cute Cheddie.

Wilson and Chris also loved her!

Rachel.

I used Photoshop La Mer on Mayzhee and myself.

Darren and Elaine i actually think they look alike!

Michael. Picture obviously stolen from his blog.

This picture was supposed to have only Kate and I. Some Camdiva popped out ala Shutter from behind.

Cheryl and Ivene.

April. It’s ridiculous two housemates had to jam all the way from PJ to KL instead of from upstairs to downstairs to meet each other. Cheesh.

On that day, i also…

celebrated my belatededededed birthday. I’ve never known anyone who celebrated her birthday, like, 1 and a half months later.

It’s okay la. It could be Cheddie’s 18-days-belated birthday.

Jane. She loved cheesecake. I mean, Cheddie.

Simon

Stef

Kate

KY smoothie.

Game time.

We were NOT playing chor dai dee.

I swear. Uh uh. Not chor dai dee.

We played mafia.

Thanks to Khailee who taught me the game, mafia was our sole entertainment back in the MDG days. Besides all the gossiping and back-stabbing of course.

But i dunno why hor! I’m ALWAYS the first or the second to get killed in a mafia game. WHY AH? Apart from the theory that the hottest girl always get killed first i cannot possibly come up with other explanation. It’s very tulan ok. I never get to play the mafia!!! I want to improve my lying skill!!!!666

Eh Joshua! That’s the only picture i have of you wor!

Ok this post is going to have a lurid ending.

Ching arrived and the first thing she said was,

“I parked my car. I got down. And i kicked a dead, fat and bloated rat.”

I looked out the window.

And i saw a dead, fat and bloated rat. Probably drunk too. Baroque is too great a drinking place.

This little guy looks like Remy’s gluttonous cousin Emile in Ratatouille. Ok little is a very wrong choice of adjective.

Oh talk about coincidence.

Simon gave me a rat for my belatededededed birthday present!

Thank you for coming once again, and all pictures taken by KY Smoothie, thank you very much.

The Angkors and Self Timer at Angkor Wat

Short note: I’m organising Malaysia’s first Bloggers Media Trip to Southern Thailand this July. Good news is, I have two one allocation left on this trip. Bloggers with 1000 uniques per day and interested to come on board are free to email me at nicootan@gmail.com.

Once, there were the gods,

the gods

And the asuras (demons), and they cooperated with each other to churn the Sea of Milk to create the elixir of immortality – amrita.

demon imprints
Asuras

But the teamwork ended when Amrita was formed and the gods went back on their words to give half a bottle to the Asuras, and hence the Asuras tried to steal it.

statues of the gods

So is the great Hinduism myth, so you find at every gate of Angkor Thom (this is the Wat where Tomb Raider filmed one of their scenes), the cravings of the gods and the Asuras demons.

demon statue
Why does the demon always look scarier?

These were the imprints and cravings at Angkor Wat, as I raised early the next morning and cycled all the way back to the Angkors (I missed the 5:30am sunrise shut up), there was barely anyone.

Angkor Wat

Except for the few monks

It was the best time to tour the Wat.

It was so empty, you could even sleep there.

What better time to test your self timing skill than now eh? :D :D :D

Phew, have to jump through gaps back and forth.

Okay next, how big do you think this stone stair is? Looking up!

Can’t imagine right?

Put a Nicole there.

big angkor wat and small nicole

I’d say pretty bloody BIG!
(This shot I have to run so very far away~ )

Walking on the stone street leading up to Angkor Wat, you’ll find many holes on the stones that were made to carry these heavy weights around.

stones road

Going through the temple, you’ll find yourself on the other side of AW which was meant to be the East entrance to the Wat. Here you can almost visualized how it used to be back in the days when Angkor was built.

And how it was like few hundreds years later the whole Angkors were engulfed by the jungle.

Bayon

Further up north you will reach Angkor Thom – one of the largest of all Khmer cities (appropriately means “Great City”), or the four main gates surrounding it. This is the south gate, where most people enter and exit through.

bayon south gate
No this is not the gate where the Tomb Raider evil guy pulled down.

One of the most prominent temples inside Angkor Thom is Bayon,

bayon

pretty much “the most enigmatic and powerful religious constructions in the world” according to this book,

ancient angkor book
This is a good book, not only it describe the details of each temple, it tells what is the best time to visit each temple (best lighting)

Which I bought from this girl who approached me during my lunch break.

I tell you, she was damn persuasive ok?!

More camwhore sessions,

First take, too close

Have to place on the top of the stairs and then run down in big steps and pose,

Second take, ah.. better!

Around the temple you will find a lot of face towers constructed to form an ascending peak.

This is a difficult angel, an uncle from china helped me take this :D

They say there used to be 49 towers around the temple, but now there’re only 37 left.

bayon face

Bayon, in my opinion, is one of the most visited temple among the tourists, why? Because when you see a bunch of locals in fancy themed costume are out to hunt for gullible tourists for over expensive Polaroid photographs, you know the place it’s over commercialised.

bend like rubber cambodian

Seriously, the way she bent reminded me of these figurine carvings on every possible structure in Angkor.

yea bent it baby~

Even the monks love to take photograhs :D

Victory gate, Angkor Thom

On the way to the east entrance of Angkor Thom, I dumped my bicycle in the bush and decided to venture into the field.

victory gate pose 2
Self timer on a rock

When it took you at least 10 mins to set up your camera, you take more than one photo.

victory gate pose 1

I need to run pretty far for this shot,

victory gate far pose 1

first take, ran out of time, so turned around and pose first.

Second take, ran faster, leaped down the giant stone steps, across the field and up the stone steps again and POSE!

victory gate far pose 2
Haha, perfect!

I already cropped this photo, I appeared too small in actual one, you can view it here.

Thommanon

Exiting the East entrance (notice I didn’t say East gate, cause the east gate is hidden from tourists), on the way to Ta Keo and Ta Phrom temples, you will come by this little sweet elegant temple called Thommanon.

Thommanon
Post card worthy~

Oh no, now my secrets are out!

Ta Keo

Now the Ta Keo is impossible to be missed. A giant temple-mountain made entirely, get this, sandstone.

sandstone steps of Ta Keo

It’s massive, tall and extremely towering, and it’s incomplete.

top of ta keo

Also a playground for local kids

The wind up here was magnificient!

Love the view~!

Phew, what a long post, total of 59 photos! I think. Didn’t really count. Lol
(I bet there are lame people who will count the photos after I mention it)

After so much climbings, so many running back and forth taking many shots of difficult self timing photos, I can feel water evaporating out of my skin.

sweaty face

I swear!! Those water drops were constantly there on my nose!!!

(more photos on the way~)

Independence Poon Bowl

The 2007 Independence Bowl faced the Alabama Crimson Tide vs Colorado Buffaloes. This was a crazy game as Bama raced out to a 27-0 lead and held off a furious CU rally to pull out the bowl victory, 30-24. If you are interested, here are some post game thoughts from a Bama blog.

We were able to track down some Big 12 Buffalo poon and it competes somewhat with Bama but predictably, the nod goes to the hot Roll Tide pooners of T-Town.

(Props to Busted Coverage for the CU poon pix)

Have a great weekend poon lovers. Many kudos to those nameless but honorable poon hunters who helped contribute. Our gratitude is as never ending as the Poon of the SEC.

We miscalculated our pooner inventory and we are in desperate need of more poon ammo to arm us in some great ideas that we have coming up.

Poon of the SEC takes tremendous pride that our site only displays high quality poon and we do not want to dip our standards. With the hotness of SEC pooners, it does not take long to reload up.

Here are the schools with the highest pooner priority.

Bama
UGA
Tennessee
Auburn
Kentucky

Please feel free to send all hot poon shots of any other school as well.

We know the college football off season is long and we are trying our best to provide everyone with some SEC fix to help them through it.

Email pix to hotsecpoon@gmail.com

Thanks to everyone. Happy Hunting.
